Abstract painting titled A New Day showing the sun shining over the sea by multi-media artist, Kellyanne

My Bio

Kellyanne is a mixedmedia contemporary artist known for her abstract work, combining impressionism and abstraction elements. She was born right outside of Boston and is currently based in Massachusetts. Kellyanne works with various mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, collage, and oils, to create her expressive pieces.

Kellyanne has been painting and drawing since she was 3 years old, tracing the Peanuts gang on her metal lunch box until she could draw them in her sleep. She recalls getting up at the crack of dawn on Sunday mornings to watch Captain Bob paint on TV — if only VCRs had been invented, she could have slept in. Kellyanne would take what she had learned and draw all day. Many times these “works of art” would be spread out on the dining room table in a make-shift art show with the hopes that family members would purchase them.

She would go on to hand-paint collectible thimbles for a company in Maine and Christmas ornaments sold at a shop on Bearskin Neck in Rockport, Massachusetts. After a long hiatus to raise her children, she is now painting and selling her artwork, which is the dream.

She is a two-time finalist at Grey Cube Gallery and was very proud to be a part of The SAA Sunflower Project, paying tribute to lives that were impacted by COVID-19 in 2020. Furthermore, Kellyanne is a contributor to Medium.com, where she writes articles about art, sharing her insights and experiences with a wider audience.

Travel has always been an inspiration to this Irish lass. Her dream trip to Dublin, Ireland in 2019 was her favorite. The many shades of green, the cobblestone streets and the beautiful sunsets have been influencing Kellyanne’s paintings ever since. Being in the country of so many famous artists gave her incentive to return home to paint.

My Artist Statement

I am a multimedia artist based in New England, and find joy in working with watercolors, acrylics, and occasionally collage. Nature, particularly the landscapes and seascapes of New England, serves as my primary inspiration. My paintings aim to capture the beauty of light, color, and reflections in these environments.

In my abstract works, I explore expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas through shapes, forms, and composition on canvas.

Incorporating dots into my artwork serves as a profound homage to my background in braille transcription.  My training in braille has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the nuanced beauty of texture and pattern, which I now translate into visual art.

As I create art, I draw from my life experiences—the good days, the bad days, and the everyday moments. I strive to create art that resonates with the viewer, hoping they can feel something in what they see, just as I did when I created it.
